Gwen Young, Founding Perry County Historical and Cultural Arts Society member, and her daughter, Sandy Adams provided the following information on the Nellie Sheridan house. The source of their information is Doug and Brenda Kausek, former owners of the home.
Per Doug Kausek, the home was constructed in 1850 by Nathaniel Phillips. Nathaniel Phillips is listed in the 1853 W.W. Reilly & Co.’s Business Directory as working as a “plasterer” in Somerset. Undoubtedly, he probably worked on many of the early homes in the county.
