Phil died of heart attack

Philip Henry Sheridan was once described by Abraham Lincoln as “A brown, chunky little chap, with a long body, short legs, not enough neck to hang him, and such long arms that if his ankles itch he can scratch them without stooping.”

Philip’s brother, John L., father of Nellie and Mary Sheridan, was so rotund that the door had to be enlarged of Nellie’s 19th century home to accommodate his large casket.  Like his brother, he was just as wide as he was tall and quick witted.

It isn’t surprising that ” chunky”General Phil died of a heart attack!
